Another Doctor Blogging About OSA & CPAP
November 12Sleep Apnea is a complex disorder and even though I think I understand it all pretty well, there’s nothing like hearing about it from a real doctor (which I’m not). For that reason, I read Michael Rack’s blog, Steven Poceta’s site and Michael Breus’ blog on WebMD. They kow what they are talking about as they have studied these topics for years.
I found another doctor entering the sleep apnea blogosphere today. Dr. Jonathan Greenburg’s Sleep Apnea and Snoring blog is off to a promising start with plenty of useful info in terms we can all understand. Dr. Greenburg has a dentistry background and runs a clinic for sleep apnea patients in California. He recognizes CPAP as the number one form of treatment but also realizes that for some patients, oral solutions may be a good choice too. By offering both solutions he can cater for the entire spectrum of patients.
On his blog you can read why baby boomers are at risk and a guide to sleep apnea with suitable solutions for this disorder.
This blog is a good candidate to be added to the blogroll here, it’s in my feedreader alongside a dozen others I’ll discuss later. Let’s keep an eye on it!

Thank you for the kind words, and I hope to be able to help everyone understand how important to get sleep apnea or other sleep disorders treated. Thanks for getting the word out and if anyone wants to hear the one hour interview I did recently, that goes over many of the options, please feel free to visit my blog and sign up and get it there…thanks again.

Dr. Greenburg treated me and I am the guy that has his picture on Dr. Greenburg’s website. Thanks for reviewing the site and I have to tell you, Dr. Greenburg saved my life! I hope other people who are in the Los Angeles area find out about his work. Take care!

I have been on cpap for three months and it really does make a difference. The best thing i did was going to the doctors about my snoring . At first i thought it was a really embarrassing problem, but i am glad i went. My advice to anyone out there is to go and get help.

Dear Dr.
I have sleep apnea. I have a CPAP Smart Machine. I did have a CPAP w/heat humidifier prior.
I have repeatedly told my doctor I get a drowning feeling and a sufication feel from the machine.
I start having continue sinus drainage when I use the machine.
Now I have broncitius. I quit using the machine for two weeks and got better; then I started to use the machine again and now I am back to being sick.
My doctor totally is not listening to the problems I am having. They just tell me to try to continue using the machine and eventually I will get use to the machine.
I can only tolerant the machine for about 1hour to 2hours per night before the machine does not give the continue air flow.
I would appreciate a response.

Hi David,
Thanks for your comment. If you OSA is mild to moderate, you can consider mandibular advancement as an alternative to PAP therapy.
See for example SomnoDent: http://www.somnomed.com/
Also: TAP or OASYS

I’m on CPAP thereapy for the past 45 days. There was absolutely no problems during the initial 3 weeks, and I got rid of my day sleep while driving and during office hours. However, I felt diziness/off balance feeling during day time in the next 2 weeks, and then I noticed that the cover of the exhalation port (I’m using a full fac mask)was missing and I fot the cover from under my bed. Then I fitted the cover and continued using the CPAP thereapy. Now I’m feeling better and the diziness is minimizing. But, I’m afraid whether it will come back because this will kill your confidence. Are there other reasons for this diziness? Seeking valuable advise.
